Amanda Kelly/ MSW, LlCSW
Mental Health Practitioner

Embedded in my core values is to increase human empowerment and develop strengths in individuals and organizations. The purpose of my career is to improve client’s quality of life and relationships to increase their confidence in managing a successful life.  In addition, to providing clients with safe effective treatment that employs a client centered approach and self-empowerment. As an effective team member at HRC, I will employ best practices, and evidence-based methods that promote positive change. My experiences include inpatient/outpatient therapy services working pre-school aged children, families, and young adults with behavioral, emotional, and developmental concerns. I primarily serve preschool-aged children with mental health diagnosis.  My clinical skills and training include:

Systems Theory: Understanding the patient within their multiple contexts and interactions within and between institutions. This includes, families, faith communities, cultural communities, external medical settings and providers, and others. Because systems theory must be utilized to maintain improvements and continue toward patient goals post-discharge.

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT):  Short-term treatment model designed to assist children, adolescents, and their families in overcoming the negative effects of a traumatic experience. Participating individuals have shown improvements such as decreases in PTSD symptoms, depression, anxiety, behavior problems, shame, cognitive distortions, and relationship difficulties.

Crisis Intervention: Many individuals experience a traumatic incident or have experienced trauma in the past that may reemerge. Crisis intervention can help to regain stability and order so that an individual can better meet their treatment goals.

Psychoeducation: Individual education can involve information about many personal illnesses, including medical diagnoses, mental health diagnoses, or cognitive decline. Providing individuals and families with information and skills to cope with illness can help them to develop goals and relieve psychological distress.

Grief Counseling: Most or all individuals experience some sort of functional decline, and some of these are at the end of their lives or witnessing the end of a life. Regardless of diagnosis or prognosis, individuals can struggle to cope with these changes. Grief counseling can help to explore the feelings and experiences around this loss, including accompanying depression and anxiety.
